How to play Mulo

Mulo is a game of luck and memory. Your goal is simple: help Mulo, a hungry little mouse, find the right hole on each level and climb as high as you can. There is nothing to install and no account to create, just click Play.

The game board

Each level is a row of three holes: a green one, a yellow one and a red one. The level number is shown to the left of the holes. Next to them, Mulo keeps you company with a speech bubble about your last move: he is delighted when you find the food, he sighs when you miss and he panics when you slip back down.

Below the active row, the game lists the levels you have already cleared. For each of them, the right hole is shown in solid colour and a heart is drawn next to the number. This history is your best friend for the rest of the game.

The three holes of a level

On every level, only one of the three holes is the right one. The other two lead elsewhere:

Here is the key to the game: the right hole of a level is always the same, from one game to the next. Luck helps you the first time, memory does the rest. The more you play, the better you know the way.

Landings

Every ten levels (10, 20, 30 and so on) there is a landing. On a landing, the colours of the holes are hidden behind a yin-yang symbol, so you cannot tell in advance which one is right. The three holes then have bigger consequences:

Once a landing is cleared, it protects you. If you come back down to it later, the falling hole is crossed out in red: you cannot drop below it any more.

Landing fruits

Each landing you clear is rewarded with a fruit that replaces the heart in your history: an apple at level 10, a banana at level 20, cherries at level 30, grapes at level 40, an orange at level 50 and a watermelon at level 60, a strawberry at level 70, a pineapple at level 80, a pear at level 90, a peach at level 100, a kiwi at level 110, a lemon at level 120, a mango at level 130, a coconut at level 140, blueberries at level 150, a melon at level 160, a tomato at level 170, an avocado at level 180, an olive at level 190 and a lime at level 200.

Competition mode

The competition mode uses the first 100 levels of the game, with the same right holes, but this time the clock is running. It starts when you click "Start the competition", is shown at the top of every page and stops at level 100. Then enter your nickname: the 10 fastest players appear in the high scores table.

Kids mode

For younger players, the kids mode makes everything simpler: only two holes, a green one and a red one, 50 levels, a fruit to win at every level, and you never go back down. A wrong choice simply keeps the child on the same level.

End of the game

The game ends at level 200, and Mulo congratulates you for clearing them all. You can start again at any time from the home page and try to beat your previous run.
